  • Leader of a multi-disciplinary, copmparative research program, Nature, Society and Water, including researchers from a number of countries
  • Written extensively on water issues, including The River Nile and its Economic, Political, Social and Cultural Role. An Annotated Bibliography (4000 titles), River Nile in the Age of the British - A Case-Study in Political Economy on a Grand Scale, A Journey in the History of Water (in Norwegian), and is currently co-editing three books; Water Control and River Biographies, The Political Ecology of Water and The Worlds of Water (IB Tauris).
